Milk glass

A glass of pasteurized cows milk.

Milk is a white liquid produced by the mammary glands of mammals. It is the primary source of nutrition for young mammals before they are able to digest other types of food. Early-lactation milk contains colostrum, which carries the mother's antibodies to her young and can reduce the risk of many diseases.

In most western countries, milk refers to cow's milk, though many other mammals, humans included, produce milk. In certain regions or countries, goat's milk is quite commonly used.

Nutritional value[]

Milk contains vitamins B2 and B12. However, the vitamin is often lost when processed or spending an extended period of time in storage; thus, some milk products may be depleted of riboflavin.[1]
